Opening Celebration for Lower Guadalupe River Trail Project

The City of San Jose hosted an opening ceremony for the Lower Guadalupe River Trail Project on Saturday, April 5. Representatives from the City of San Jose and the Santa Clara Valley Water District, including Director Richard Santos and Director Joe Judge from Valley Water, Councilmember Sam Liccardo, Councilmember Kansen Chu, and Santa Clara County Supervisor Ken Yeager, came together to celebrate the completion of this project along with residents from Santa Clara County.

This project results from a partnership between the Santa Clara Valley Water District and the City of San Jose in an effort to provide a recreational facility to link the community of Alviso to the Guadalupe River Park at Interstate 880.

The new 6.4 mile all-weather trail provides an opportunity for you to use alternate forms of transportation by commuting to work or leisure activities by foot or on their bike. Small changes like this will lead to a healthier environment and better connection with the natural habitat in Santa Clara County as carbon emissions are reduced and you spend more leisure time on the county’s creekside trails.
