Water Efficient Landscape Rebate

PROGRAM EXTENDED!

Water Efficient Landscape Rebate Program (WELRP)

Receive up to a $10,000 rebate, or $75 per 100 sq./ft, whichever is lower

Santa Clara County residents can receive up to $1,000* and commercial, industrial, and institutional properties can receive up to $10,000* by replacing high water using plants such as turf grass, with low water using plants from our Approved Plant List or by installing permeable hardscape. Projects completed in Morgan Hill and Palo Alto are eligible for $150 per 100 sq. feet with a residential maximum rebate of $2,000 and a maximum rebate for businesses of $20,000.

*Rebate amount depends on the square footage of high water using vegetation removed. Under no circumstance can the rebate amount exceed the total project cost, and labor costs will not be calculated in the total project cost.

Native to California, the California Poppy is one of the approved
plant species that save water.

Program Requirements

  • No net increase in the size of irrigated area
  • Rebates must be subtracted from the project cost before submitting application
  • If an irrigation system is used, it must be: drip, soaker, bubbler, micro-spray, or an underground irrigation system; no pop-up spray sprinklers
  • Participants must agree to leave the landscape in place for a minimum of five (5) years.
  • Artificial turf does not qualify as a replacement product.

How do I Apply?
Contact Water Wise Consulting at (866) 685-2322 to schedule a pre-inspection. During the pre-inspection you will receive the Approved Plant List and Garden Soft CD. Once the pre-inspection is complete, a letter will be sent informing you whether you are qualified to participate. If you qualify, the application form will accompany the approval letter. Upon acceptance of the approval letter you will have ninety (90) days to complete the re-landscaping project.

How long will the rebate be available?
Rebate is available until funds are depleted.  Limited funding remains, please call soon to participate.
